James Harden could return to the Rockets

James Harden

James Harden is among the most talented and well-known players in the NBA. He has been a critical contributor to his teams since 2009, when he first entered the league with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2012, Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets and quickly established himself as an elite scorer and leader on the court.

James Harden played college basketball with the Arizona State Sun Devils, where he was named a consensus All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2009.

Harden was selected third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2009 NBA Draft. He became a vital part of a young core of players led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

He was named Best Sixth Man in 2012, and the team reached the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Miami Heat.

In the summer of 2012, he did not renew his contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder; he was then traded to the Houston Rockets and became the franchise’s cornerstone.

On January 13, 2021, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a four-team deal. Although with the Nets, he continued to show his incredible quality as a player, the team’s style of play did not favor him.

On February 10, 2022, he was transferred along with Paul Millsap to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond.

In the 76ers, Harden has become the main person responsible for the team’s success and has shown extraordinary performance.

For example, on December 23, 2022, against the Los Angeles Clippers, he recorded a triple-double of 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 21 assists, his record in assists.

But it seems that The Beard wants to change his environment and return to Houston.

 Harden Return to the Rockets

According to the ESPN report, James Harden will seriously consider returning to the Houston Rockets if he decides not to extend his contract with the 76ers. The All-Star guard signed a two-year, $68.6 million deal with an early termination option after the 2022-23 season.

Harden spent eight and a half seasons with the Rockets, and they have been the highlight of the player’s career as he enjoyed much individual success.

He was named the NBA MVP in the 2017-18 season and was the league’s leading scorer in that year and the two subsequent ones.

In addition, each season he spent with the Rockets, he was invited to the NBA All-Star Game and received five All-NBA First Five nominations during that span.
